Episode 19 Transcript- Witchy Shit

Megan: Welcome to Queers Next Door
Leigh: with your hosts Leigh and Megan.

M: We take the topics you care about:
L: sex, relationships, feminism, kink, social justice, and entertainment,
M: and look at them through a queer as fuck lens.
L: Find us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook at Queers Next Door
M: and make sure to follow the blog at queersnextdoor.com.

L: Cheers, queers!
M: Here we are!
L: We did it!
Both: (laugh)
M: Hi Leigh.
L: Hi Megan.
M: What have you been doing to take care of yourself this week?
L: This is tougher right now. It’s been- Just for clarification, we’re on what like, I think we’re on week five of this.
M: Oh my gosh. Already?
L: Uh huh.
M: I thought it was like three and I’m starting to go a little nutty. (laughs)
L: Well, it is, so I’m basing it on the last time my child went to school. So it’s been five weeks since she went to school.
M: Oh my gosh.
L: Uh huh. (laughs) So that’s happening. What have I been doing to take care of myself? Honestly, right now I’m working a lot on pain management, because I feel like all of my chronic pain came back. I’ve always had neck and shoulder and back pain. And after like physical therapy for awhile and then regular acupuncture and massages and like all, and then main part being like post-surgery once my like, my general stress level went down. I would say it’s been pretty under control until like a couple weeks ago. And I hit a point by the other night where I was like, literally like, had to have my child help put me to bed
M: Oh no!
L: while I was sobbing ’cause I was in so much pain and I couldn’t lift my head. So I am trying to (laughs) move less, like do stretches and stuff but on days when the pain’s really bad, like not even do that.
M: Mmhm.
L: just like move gently and combine like, ibuprofen and a back massager and an ice pack. And I’m going to get my heating pad back that my ex was borrowing. I’m gonna go get that today. And trying to find like, the best kind of weed that helps with pain. So yeah, I don’t know. I think like, trying to figure out pain management has been kind of, has been key for me right now. I don’t know. I’m not very cheery. (laughs) It’s been a rough week. I don’t know. What have you been doing to take care of yourself?
M: Well I’m so sorry you’re going through that.
L: Thank you.
M: That sounds very shitty. And what I’ve been doing (laughs) is I’ve been doing a lot of makeup. (laughs)
L: Cool!
M: So I’ve never really been into makeup but I started to get a lot of makeup from the Dollar Tree since that’s one of the places I grocery shop.
L: Yeah.
M: And it’s only a dollar, of course, and they have some pretty good stuff. Before I would never even look at it because I just didn’t care about makeup. But now that I need stuff to do, I’ve been buying puzzles there. I’ve been buying makeup and playing with it and then I was talking to my Nana and she was like, “Why don’t you sell oils again?” ‘Cause I used to,
L: Mmhm.
M: when I was teaching, like we were all super into oils. And I know everyone hates that,
L: (laughs)
M: like when you sell stuff like that. But anyways, we all did pretty good because we bought so much. Like the parents were super into it, the teachers were into it.
L: Yeah!
M: And I was like, “I don’t use that anymore.” Like, it was, whenever you do something like that, to me, it’s really mostly about you wanting the discount, not really making money.
L: Yeah.
M: And I was like, “But someone that I watch on YouTube sells Avon and I might sign up for that because then I can get a discount.” And she was like, “Yeah. Do it!” And it was so cute ’cause she’s my grandma like, she was super excited about it. And to me Avon is not something I hear like a lot of younger people using.
L: No!
M: So I thought, I was like, “Well, I don’t know if anyone will buy it or if, you know, it will be worth it except to get the discount, but since I want to play with it, I’ll do it.” So I signed up and I’ve already had like two queer people be like, “I want to buy it.” So they, I guess people like, they do want to use Avon, they just want to have like an Avon lady they like. And I’m like, “I’ll be the queer Avon lady.”
L: Yeah!
M: (laughs)
L: So it’s really funny ’cause I was about to be like, “I don’t want anything from Avon but I love to support people.” But do they still, do you guys still have Skin So Soft?
M: Yes.
L: Okay. (laughs)
M: They have everything, like oh my gosh.
L: So we used to get it when I was like a kid, so like a really long time ago. But Skin So Soft is the best mosquito repellant in the world.
M: Yes! You know how many people have said that since I’ve been talking about Avon.
L: It’s for real.
M: “Oh I remember Skin So Soft from being a child.” And I’m like, “Yeah. My grandma, my other grandma, not the one I was just talking to – she’s since passed away – but I remember her having bottles and bottles of Skin So Soft and I remember the smell.”
L: I will legit buy that from you.
M: So (laughs) that’s exciting.
L: The just turned into an MLM podcast. Welcome.
M: (laughs)
L: But for real, it really is like, I know that, I’m sure there’s plenty of great makeup up that you can totally talk about ’cause I’m not a makeup person.
M: Mmhm.
L: But I am deeply allergic to mosquito bites. And they’re not as bad in California.
M: Last year was horrible for me! I got bit so bad in the summer.
L: Yeah. But it legit works. I don’t know what’s in it. I don’t know if it’s… But as far as, short of using like Deep and that’s just, you know, straight poison.
M: (laughs) Yeah.
L: That’s the only thing else that’s ever worked for me. Yeah. Cool.
M: So that’s been a lot of fun because I’ve been doing eye shadow and stuff. And I am by no means a makeup artist. Like some of the stuff I do looks so bad, but it’s still fun. It’s like art on my face. Why not? So now I have the time. I’ve been doing it and taking selfies ’cause you know I love selfies. So that’s what I’ve been doing.
L: I love that.
M: Makeup. Avon. Dollar Tree. (laughs)
L: I realize that I totally like, interrupted you and that that’s been a problem for me because I talk to so few people that I’m just like, “Somebody talk to me!.” So I’m gonna be really
M: Awww.
L: conscious of not interrupting. (laughs)
M: Totally okay. I’ve been talking to a lot of people on Zoom so I’ve been having a lot of interaction because of work and stuff. I meant to get- I had it on the calendar today that I was gonna watch this queer brunch thing
L: Yeah.
M: on Zoom or Instagram but I totally slept through that so that didn’t happen. Maybe next time. ‘Cause remember last time we talked we said there’s so many things going on on Zoom and we wanted to be a part of them.
L: Yep.
M: Still haven’t done it.
L: I’ve had some intera- I’ve been doing some stuff with friends. The main part is the during the week it’s really hard for me to like find the time and space to do it, with my kiddo.
M: Yeah.
L: And if I am gonna step away and get on something, I am still working, like I am still seeing clients. So that’s usually my away-from-kiddo-talking-time. But as you can imagine that has a different feel.
M: Yeah.
L: And it’s been a lot of like heavy breakup themes with my clients lately, which
M: Oh my goodness.
L: I’m thrilled to both have work and be able to support people. But it’s definitely like, like not feeding,
M: Not happy.
L: not feeding my soul in any way. Do you know what I mean? (laughs)
M: Yeah.
L: Like again, happy to do it, but it’s not giving me warm fuzzy feelings afterwards. It’s a stressor more than a the opposite of that I guess.
M: Yeah.
L: Yeah.
M: Well we got a question in March. What month is it? I don’t even know.
L: It’s only April. Was that message from only March?
M: Yeah.
L: Jesus Christ. I was like, “Oh. We got a message six months ago.”
M: (laughs) Yeah. So let me pull that up ’cause that’s kinda what we’re,
L: Please do.
M: the beginning of what we’re gonna talk about today. So this is from Rocketship:
“Hello. I really enjoy the show. I’m kinda interested in hearing both your thoughts on astrology and dating. I’ve never followed astrology but I’ve noticed it’s become more and more common to throw out signs in queer dating apps and such. I get how it all can be light and fun but often people have strong negative feelings about certain signs. I find myself wondering about all the prejudgement of character based on someone’s sign. In the queer community in particular, I feel like we work to not be prejudged, but when people lead with this ‘I know your kind’ energy, that feels kinda odd to me. Does this make me a total Libra for asking?”
And I responded, “Oh my god. We’d love to do an episode about this.”
L: Amazing.
M: And then that was March 12. So that really wasn’t that far away ago but it feels like, like you said, six months ago.
L: But that was really March 12?
M: Yeah.
L: I’m like not being hyperbolic. “Oh, I wished we would have addressed this sooner. This was like three or four months ago.”
M: (laughs)
L: Okay. Cool. No, but I’m thrilled to talk about this. We decided we would kind of start here and talk about some like, queer magic witchy stuff. ‘Cause it’s nice to have a topic and take a little break from, you know, the global pandemic.
M: Mmhm. (laughs)
L: And it’s something we’ve wanted to talk about and it’s something that, you know, you and I are both interested in.
M: Yeah.
L: So I mentioned this before but I just finished reading Chani Nicholas’ books, which is called You Were Born for This: Astrology for Radical Self-Acceptance. And a quick overview is, the way she goes about this book it’s kind of a Choose Your Own Adventure. You read the parts that are relevant to your own chart. And so, if  you are interested in some kind of, astrology 101. And by the way, I’m pretty much at astrology 101, maybe 102 myself.
M: (laughs)
L: so you go to chaninicholas.com and you plug in and you can get your information. The main things you need to know, obviously are your birth date and where you were born and your birth time really does matter if you’re reading your chart for anything more than your sun sign. And your sun sign is your sign that you know of, right, the sign that’s based on like, what day you were born. Everything else does matter about the time. So I went through and did mine. And the way the book is set up is that it focuses on the big 3, which is your sun sign, your moon sign, and your rising sign. And all of the astrology is based on the location of the planets and the sun and moon in relationship to each other the moment you took your first breath, which is just like cool. I don’t know.
M: I think it’s very cool.
L: Yeah. So if you want, what we could do is we could just a little bit. And I’m going to borrow very heavily from the book. So a million thanks to Chani Nicholas. And please, if you’re interested at all, follow her on Instagram, go to her website, check out the book. She’s queer, which I love, and she’s super down to earth and just has a really like, thoughtful, empowering way of looking at all of this and is very big on, “I’m not telling you how you should feel. This is just a guide.” And I like that a lot. So yeah, I can. Do you want to start with like talking about… We can talk about the sun sign ’cause that’s the one like, that we know about, you know, the most.
M: Mmhm.
L: And essentially like, what you’re learning about yourself from your sun, from the book, you’re learning the sign that it’s in, which is like, how you shine, the house that it’s in, which is the area of your life in which you need to shine, and the planets and aspect to your sun, which just means like, how far away the planets were to sun when you were born, which is,
M: Mmhm
L: which represents who’s influencing your ability to shine. So, I pulled yours up today and we can start with yours. So, you know what your sun sign is,
M: Yes. Leo.
L: which is Leo.
M: (laughs)
L: Do you know what house your sun’s in?
M: No.
L: Okay.
M: I’ve had all these readings before but I don’t know it from off the top of my head.
L: No, that’s okay. So your sun is in Leo in the seventh house, which is the house of committed partnerships. So that’s the area
M: Oh yes. I remember that now.
L: of like, in which you need to shine. And then, so we can also look at like the planets in aspect if we want to go that deep, but maybe not. So I can read a little bit about the sun in Leo. So I won’t read the whole paragraph but what I can do
M: Mmhm.
L: is, basically like, there’s affirmations and reflection questions for each one. So the affirmations for sun in Leo are: “I am allowed to love the applause I receive.” And, “I honor my energy by finding ways to joyfully express it on the stages that are most appreciative of it.”
M: Those are nice.
L: Yeah. So, oh, this is really cool. So the sun in Leo is in its domicile. So the sun is like, that’s where it’s most like, that’s its ruler basically. The sun rules Leo. So that’s it’s place of majesty. So that means that you have access to all the resources and talents and all of the sun’s glory in Leo. So your sun is like in the best place basically, which is super cool.
M: Of course. Because it’s Leo. (laughs)
L: Uh huh. Having the sun in Leo means you’re meant to burn bright, your sun shines without shame, you need to rule something. “Though not everyone born while the sun is traveling through Leo will be driven to lead, at the very least your central mission is life is to find a way to give your lifeforce and get applauded for it.”
M: Well that sounds about right. (laughs)
L: Mmhm. And the questions to ask yourself are like, “Where in your life do you feel applauded, appreciated, and recognized for your gifts?” And, “Do you feel like your self-expression, creative energy, and ability to shine are tied to your life’s purpose?”
M: You know what? I totally forgot to mention in my self-care thing that I had a, what is it? I had an intuitive coach reading la
st week.
L: Oh cool. What did that look like?
M: So this woman is amazing. I’m gonna have to put, in the show notes, her website. I think it’s called @intuitiverx [on IG,  or intuitiveprescription.com] or no, prescrip- I don’t know. I wrote it down.
L: Okay.
M: But it’s really cool. So she did a chakra reading on me and an aura reading.
L: Mmhm.
M: And she was able to see some of my like, spirit guides, and it was so awesome.
L: That’s really cool.
M: But what you said just reminded me because she said something about like the mission being connecting with people
L: Mmhm.
M: and, how come I can’t say it? I wrote it all down though. So to follow the feeling that gives me excitement. And I was telling her how I do a lot of livestreaming, podcasting, that I want to do more YouTube stuff. And she was like, “Totally. Do that, because that’s where you’re meant to be, is talking to people, connecting with people.” And she said that people like my voice and that I have an authoritative kind of like, the way I speak is authoritative. And I thought, “I don’t necessarily feel that but I’ve heard and I know that my sign, reading about my sign, it always says stuff like that and I think something you just said reminded me of that. So that’s really cool.
L: That’s awesome. And I was thinking, as we go through this, we won’t go so much into like, all the aspects, like all the different planets and where they were ’cause it can just be a little confusing I think, to follow, which is like, but what it does is it’s like your gifts and your challenges and that.
M: Mmhm.
L: But the one thing I can read you about your sun is, there’s a paragraph about having your sun in the seventh house, which is where yours is, and I’ll read you that. “The seventh house is the place of marriage, committed partnerships, and business relationships. To have your sun here means that some part of your purpose needs to be lived out in a relationship or in regard to partnership. You may find that no matter how independent you are, being with others is the main path toward the realization of your potential. Usually with the sun in the seventh house, life is flooded with committed partnerships of all kinds. This can look fun from the outside, but often it is difficult to realize your dreams on your own.”
M: Awww.
L: How does that feel? Does that feel relevant to your experience?
M: Yes! And I’ve had, so Sam, who does our transcription, has a partner who did my birth chart reading before.
L: Mmhm.
M: And I remember it was during, in the summer, when both you and I had both had breakups. And she was like, “Wow. You must be really struggling right now because so much of your identity is based on partnerships.” And I remember like, thinking that it kind of hurt but it was so true and how true that is for me in my entire life and how I’ve always had like, such shame around that. And it was just recently that I’ve been realize that like, that’s not a shameful thing, to like always want to be partnered,
L: Right.
M: that some people, that like, me, that’s just the way that I feel like I’m more spiritual when I’m partnered, I’m able to figure things out more. But then there’s also that like, underlying thing where, I don’t know if it’s like society telling me or like, if it is my own self telling me, like you need to figure out who you are on your own too. I don’t know, but it’s, it was like a lot to think about.
L: Yeah.
M: But that comes up every time I have any kind of reading, is like your partnerships, committed partnerships, not being able to be alone or something like that.
L: Yeah, that’s really interesting. So yeah, I think I like that part about kind of the explanation of the houses. Like it’s one thing to see like, what the sign like, means and then the other thing is like how it’s expressed. And by the way, if anyone is like an astrologer, then I know you know way more than we do about this. We’re just kinda
M: (laughs)
L: We’re just kinda talking.
M: We’re just, yeah. (laughs)
L: (laughs) So, if we want to talk about mine for a second.
M: I’m excited to hear yours.
L: So my sun is in Cancer. A little bit about that is it says, “Your sun in Cancer holds all memory. Cancer’s the primordial waters of creation, the womb of humanity that carries with it our entire human story. When you love someone, they’ll know it. Water signs are reflective. Ruled by the moon, Cancer’s job is to mirror the light of others. Like a parent or caregiver, you’re always sensing what others need to hear, know, or receive as support.” I like this one here. It says, “A natural caretaker, your sun in Cancer might hold onto an emotional but it will also remember your loved ones’ favorite restaurant, movie, or teacher from high school.” And then my affirmations are, “Care is my greatest currency.” And, “Feelings are not facts but they carry within them kernels of truth that I am dedicated to uncovering.”
M: That’s so sweet.
L: Yeah, I like it.
M: I like yours.
L: I do too. The reflection questions are like, “Where do you feel your emotional power is most appreciated and most put to good use? Who do you let take care of you?” And, “Is developing emotional bonds or initiating others into feeling their emotions tied to your life’s purpose?” Which like, duh. (laughs) It very much is. And so my sun is in the second house, which represents money, possessions, worth, and property. And so, at first I was kind of like, “Oh. I don’t know how that feels.” But the way that’s explained is that, “With this placement you need to find work that allows you to shine, take up space, and come into your potential.” And “One of the greatest challenges most of us face is finding ways to make an income that doesn’t cause greater harm to our world and ourselves.” So, I mean, that makes a lot of sense for me and like, changing careers
M: Mmhm.
L: and finding things like that. My reflections questions are, “Where in your work life do you feel capable, confident, and purposeful? How is part of your life’s purpose lived out and expressed via your relationship to assets, talents, and resources?” So yeah.
M: I found something that says Common Misconceptions About the Signs. I wanted to see yours ’cause you’re a Cancer and so is my partner.
L: Mmhm.
M: “Cancers are known for being soft-hearted and docile. This theory has no truth when someone takes Cancer kindness for granted or uses them. A Cancer will not forgive or forget that kind of disregard and can in fact become quite ruthless when someone provokes them enough to irateness.”
L: Yeah.
M: I don’t know. What do you think about that?
L: I think that’s relevant. I think there’s something in here too about… I mean, that’s kind of why Cancer is represented by the crab,
M: Mmhm.
L: which is like…
M: Oh that’s right! The crab. I forgot about that.
L: Mmhm. I want to see what it says about the crab. There was something interesting in here. Oh yeah. Here you go, “Cancer can easily swing between martyrdom and irritability when too much care goes out and not enough comes in.” And, “As a crab you can develop too hard a shell, a good defense for your tender under belly but one that can lead to isolation.” I think that’s totally true. Like I’ve said before like, it doesn’t take a lot for me to feel like, loved and taken care of and I’m a big words of affirmation person. But at the same time like, I very clearly remember like every bad thing that (laughs) anyone’s ever said to me,
M: (laughs)
L: probably to my detriment. Yeah, what’s the, what are the misconceptions about Leos?
M: It says, “Leo people are said to be extremely self-absorbed and prideful. While this may be true for many of them early on in life, that they transform as they get older into quite humble or even charitable human beings,” which I think is true. I think that’s the number one thing about Leos. People think that we’re self-absorbed and it’s all about me.
L: Mmhm.
M: And I think that some parts of my personality are definitely like that and it’s served me well in like, careerwise.
L: Yeah.
M: But also I feel very much the opposite where that’s the parts of Leo that I felt like I don’t always want people to look at me. I don’t want all the attention. I like to give other people attention and to like, help them be the center of attention, if that makes sense.
L: Yeah, absolutely.
M: And then I wanted to read Libra because the person who wrote into us is a Libra and fun fact, so many people in my life are Libras.
L: Same! I have a ton of Libras in my life. I often date Libras and do pretty well with Libras.
M: I have in the past too. Like I feel Cancer and Libra are probably like my most, what’s the word, when you like match well with someone, compatible
L: Compatible, yeah.
M: signs. It says, “Some people would call Libra a superficial sign. While it’s true that sometimes Libra gets distracted by superficial things, they really don’t place as much importance in them as most people say they do. They desire a good heart in others more than anything material or vain. They will not stick with someone or something for superficial reasons.” So I thought those were cool.
L: Nice. Yeah. I won’t read the whole part of sun in Libra from here but I will read the affirmations. It’s, “Discord is an important part of growth.” And, “I can only truly please myself so I start there.” I like that.
M: Yeah. I downloaded that book but I haven’t read it of course.
L: Yeah. I think you’ll enjoy it. Like I said, it doesn’t take as long to read because you don’t need to read everything, like you’re more reading about your own parts. Do you know what your moon sign is?
M: I believe it’s Taurus.
L: It is.
M: Okay.
L: So, your moon represents your body. So like your body is in Taurus, which is the grounded and stabilizing style and it’s in the fourth house, which is the house of parents, home, and foundations. So let’s see. Oh, you’ve got another one. Yours is pretty exciting. So you know how I said your sun was in Leo, which is like where it’s exalted. Your moon is in Taurus, which is also where it’s exalted.
M: Oh.
L: So you’re in like, peak placement for sun and moon.
M: (laughs)
L: “In Taurus, the moon needs stable, reliable comforts. Taurus needs to build and the moon is doing so in relationships, at home, and in all things that bring a sense of security.” Let’s see. “The moon in a Venus ruled sign, Taurus and Libra know how to create connections. In Taurus this is done through slow and steady development of a partnership.” So your affirmations for your moon in Taurus are, “I honor my need for stability, security, and consistency while encouraging myself to take thoughtful risks.” And, “I know that my strength is something that others find soothing, but that doesn’t mean that I have to give them more than I have to spare.”
M: Awww. So it says another thing about partnerships again.
L: It did. Yeah. That’s super cool. And it’s in, let me see what the fourth house is. So yours in the house of home, family, caretakers, parents, and grandparents. So when your moon’s in the fourth house you need to live out your life’s purpose by creating foundation for your life. “The family that you come from may or may not be a place of refuge for you but creating such a space is of paramount importance. You may be particularly skilled at studying or understanding ancestry origin stories of history. Often when it’s in your fourth house, it can speak to having an interest in working with families, in people’s homes, real estate, or the domestic realm in general.”
M: Hmm.
L: Yeah.
M: That’s funny. Going back to the question that Rocketship sent in, I have it on my website, ’cause since I’m monogamous now (laughs) I don’t have dating apps anymore.
L: Sure.
M: But on my website, in my About Me, it says like, I’m a sun in Leo, moon in Taurus, and what’s the other one? Sun, moon, rising?
L: Your rising, yeah.
M: And Aquarius. And I put, “Because we all know how important that is.”
L: (laughs)
M: So I think people definitely, like myself included, sometimes we lead with this information. You know? It’s fun.
L: It is! And I do think it’s interesting to like, get, the thing that I really liked about this book too is that, it gave me like, without getting way into the weeds with it, it gave me a little more insight because the one sign of my top three that hasn’t ever really like resonated with me is my moon sign. My moon’s in Capricorn.
M: Mmhm.
L: And I don’t know. Just everything I’ve read about Capricorn, I’m like, “Oh. Okay. That just doesn’t seem to fit as much.” And so like, moon in Capricorn is, “Moon creates safety and security for accomplishing tasks, climbing to new heights, and proving itself as the responsible, reliable, productive member of society. Extremely self-reliant, they feel safe when in control of the situation.” And I mean, that makes sense but, “Boundaries are important.” And then it says, “You may have a parent or caregiver who is too burned with responsibility or tradition to be able to care for you. The work of the Capricorn moon is to understand where malnourishment occurred so there can be a repair of harm and a replenishing of whatever the lack in early life was.” And I don’t know. I thought that was interesting. It also says, “With an acute awareness of the bleak and grim realities of life, you might have an incredible sense of humor and deal with painful and delicate emotional material in very practical ways.”
M: And does that resonate?
L: That does resonate more! The affirmations are, “I’m committed to being kind to myself and I pause to replenish myself whenever I feel empty.” And I think like, even though Cancer reads much more as like, a caretaker, this reading of the Capricorn moon feels very caretaker oriented. And then mine is in the eighth house, which is a place of collaboration. And so it says this placement can be especially experienced with mental health issues and may be very adept at working with folks who have them or who are working through grief. You may need to confront emotionally difficult situations and may often go through cathartic experiences. You may also be connected to souls that have left the body. Channelers, psychics, and those who are in touch with the spirit world can often have strong eighth house influences.” So I thought that was really cool.
M: Yeah.
L: I also like the idea of just like, I don’t know, understanding grief and mental health and focusing on collaborations are two things that are much more about like the house that my moon is in.
M: Mmhm.
L: And I like that. And those both feel like, really resonant for me. Yeah.
M: And then there’s one more, right?
L: The rising sign.
M: The rising signs.
L: Yeah. So your rising sign, like you said, is in Aquarius. Your rising sign is basically your motivation for life. And Aquarius is the intellectual and definitive style. Let me find that. So, interestingly, the ascendant, like your rising or your ascendant is the most personal point in your chart. It’s the degree of the zodiac where it was exactly that you were born. So it’s like what your motivation for life is and then life what’s influencing that, et cetera. So with Aquarius, let me look. I don’t know as much about Aquarius, Aquariui, Aquariuses. So, let’s look.
M: Oh, and then I wanted to read all the ones from your chart on the…after we’re done with that, on this little thing I’m reading about the common misconceptions. I’ll have to go back.
L: Oh yeah. You can totally look at…
M: Like Capricorn.
L: We can look at Capricorn, sure.
M: Yeah.
L: Okay, so for Aquarius rising, “Aquarius isn’t convinced by sentiment. It isn’t held captive by nostalgia. It has remarkable intellectual gifts. With this sign as your ascendant, you won’t be satisfied to follow the herd. You define yourself by thinking for yourself. Wanting to be known for your clarity, certainty, and thoughtful perspective, you need to demonstrate fearlessness when witnessing the truth or telling it.” Let’s see. Your affirmations are, “I honor my need to be known for my intellect.” And, “Vulnerability has its own wisdom.”
M: Hm. Well that’s interesting.
L: Yeah.
M: I think the one I connect least with is Aquaruis and that’s one of the- The major. What is it? My personality?
L: It is. You know, though, it’s interesting though because it’s also, like, the other part of this is like, your ascendent ruler
M: Mmhm.
L: And your ascendent ruler is…hold on. I just want to see if it says anything. Oh, I guess it’s…I’m seeing what house your stuff is in. Your ascendant ruling is Saturn. Let me just see if there’s anything that tells me that. You know, this might take a little bit to go more into the ascendant ruling stuff so we’ll just stick to rising sign. But if it doesn’t totally relate, there’s more to it.
M: Mmhm.
L: Like there’s a lot more parts.
M: I’m just gonna have to read the whole book
L: Yeah, so that’s interesting.
M: and take notes.
L: And that’s what I did. And think it can be a fun thing to do. I do want to make this into a bit of a writing project like, going back to the reflection questions
M: Yeah.
L: And just like, spending a little time with that.
(Commercial starts)
Person 1: On a night like another other night, we were on vacation from Christmas, so the week between Christmas and New Year’s.
Person 2: My parents were followers of the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, who is was then known as the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, currently known as Osho even though he’s been dead since the `80s.
Megan: And then I heard the noises again and I looked again but this time I could hear footsteps, like someone was definitely coming in.
Person 1: And when I walked into the bedroom I noticed that  Andre’s side of the bedsheets were pulled down, but he wasn’t in the bed.
Person 2: I wouldn’t say we were a doomsday cult per se.
Megan: But when the door opened, it opened like, like from a horror movie. It was like slooow and creaky and then she held the knife over her head.
Person 2: I think when you get to certain point where you’re either putting a tinfoil hat on
Person 1 (overlapping): Each time it got a little bit worse because I stayed and he made me feel like
Dick: Welcome to Being There, the podcast devoted to exploring the extraordinary aspects of everyday people’s lives. I’m Dick.
Kelly: And I’m Kelly, and you can find us on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, and all other major podcast apps. You can also follow us on our social media; Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter at BeingTherePod
(various overlapping voices telling stories)
(commercial ends)
L: So my rising is Gemini and, “Gemini is a trickster, a mischief maker, magician, reporter, salesperson, and gatherer and giver of information. One of your great inspirations is to exchange facts, tidbits, and morsels of meaning that you’ve been able to curate. Gemini has a story to tell everyone it meets.” Yeah, it’s like, “This one’s happier in dialogue than when in cemented certainty. Gemini rules the arms and hands as well as the hungs as every good communicator needs the wind to carry forth it’s message,” which is really funny to be because I talk with my hands, like aggressively.
Both: (laugh)
L: So yeah. This one’s about like, communicating and sharing information. The affirmations are, “I’m hardwired to exchange what i have with those around me.” And, “I am as reflective as I am inquisitive.”
M: I love the affirmations. They’re all so nice.
L: They are! They are. So yeah, that’s kind of it. And then there’s more parts about it that are like, that find out like what rules your ascendant, like where it is and what house it’s in. So there’s more, there’s way more to that as well. But that’s kind of the overall gist. And so, to like go back a little bit to the question, I think it’s interesting to… Like, the reason I love this book and this idea so much is it’s like, the subtitle is Astrology for Radical Self-Acceptance, so it’s more about you and how you see yourself than like, whether or not you’re compatible with other people.
M: Mmhm.
L: So like I’m interested in what other people’s signs are and I do think like, it gives a little bit of information. But if definitely is such a small piece of information that it doesn’t tell you like whether or not you’re going to be compatible with someone, for example. Like, I think there’s patterns that we notice.
M: Yeah.
L: But I don’t know about you. Like do you, are there any signs where you’re like, “Oh I wouldn’t date anybody who’s a X.”
M: Yes.
L: Okay.
M: And that’s a Leo.
L: Interesting.
M: (laughs) Because, and I shouldn’t say that because I don’t necessarily, like the person said in the question, I don’t think, like if I meet someone and had a connection, then I wouldn’t be like, “No,” because of just that alone. But I have dated a Leo in the past and it was like, the worst, because I think I was just- We’re too similar.
L: Mmhm.
M: It all depends too though because they have other signs too besides Leo and everyone has different signs. So to just go on the sun sign alone, I think, that probably doesn’t matter as much, so it was more about the person than what their sign was.
L: Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
M: But just because of having a bad experience, I think maybe of us will do that, like lump them together. Like, I’m a Leo so I love Leos, but I’m really not close with many other Leos and I think dating, I’ve only done it once and I’ve always said I would never do it again ’cause it was such a catastrophe. (laughs)
L: Yeah. I mean, it’s funny, because I mean, my mom’s a Leo
M: Mmhm.
L: and so is one of my exes who probably has the most in common with my mom. (laughs) But funny enough, I see like, I see that show up like, kind of in both of them, like both of their personalities. But neither of them are similar to how I see you. But I still see you as a Leo,
M: Oh, okay.
L: if that makes sense.
M: (laughs) Yeah.
L: Yeah, there’s no signs I won’t date. I’m a little less likely I’ve noticed to be compatible I’ve noticed, with like, Aries and Sagittarius.
M: Mmhm.
L: But that doesn’t mean that like, that like seeing that would be a reason for me to like, swipe no, for example.
M: Yeah.
L: I like the way it’s been explained to me as just like, another language that like,
M: Mmhm.
L: either resonates or doesn’t resonate. And I mostly just think it’s kinda fun to learn, I don’t know, to learn a new language that’s not just about like, memorizing. (laughs) I don’t know. It’s not about memorizing things. It’s more about like, self-discovery.
M: Yeah. And I think like, you can get your birth chart on Co-Star, right, if you know the time and everything. And I think that is so much fun because you can add people. So whenever I make a new, I’ll always say like, “Hey. Add me on Co-Star.” And I just like to read about them.
L: Yes. I did notice one thing, is that my houses on Co-Star do not line up with the same ones exactly.
M: Oh, really?
L: So I’m not sure. There’s more than one way to read it. So I don’t know. That’s something to keep in mind, is there are a few different ways to like, I don’t know. I don’t know enough about it to know like, so but the way it breaks down is like, they might not use the same like, system, which is interesting. But you’ll have the same planets and the same signs and all of that.
M: Mmhm.
L: But the houses don’t always correlate exactly.
M: So let’s go back to the signs we talked about.
L: Yeah.
M: Taurus. It says, “Taurus has the stereotype of being self-centered, although concerning the ones they love this couldn’t be farther from the truth. They will stubbonly do anything they can to help a loved one, even if it requires a vertain amount of self-sacrifice.” Gemini. “Gemini folk-“
L: And you were- Sorry, real quick. You were Taurus moon, right?
M: Yes.
L: Yeah. I actually get, Tauruses are high on my get along list so that’s interesting. Yeah.
M: Oh really? I also have exes that are Tauruses and I feel like they’re very stubborn.
L: Uh huh.
M: And I mean I have that part of my personality too so it makes sense. Again, me just like being stereotypical, but
Both: (laugh)
M: “Gemini folk have a reputation of being detached of unaffected by romantic woes. However, when betrayed or hurt by a relationship, their reaction can be somewhat similar to the water sign Scorpio, which is different from them in almost every way, besides the urge to be destructive when scorned.”
L: Oh see. I feel that.
M: We had no Virgo. Poor Virgo and Aries. We haven’t talked about them at all. (laughs) Let’s see.
L: I can look and see if you have any in your chart.
M: Do I have any Scorpio?
L: So yeah, this is, so this is another like… You have, in your chart, you have a ton of Leo in your chart. Do you know that?
M: I know. Yeah.
L: Because your Mercury, Venus, and Mars are also all in Leo. Oh, this makes sense. Okay. So you know, you were just saying your partnership stuff shows up.
M: Mmhm.
L: Mercury, which is like how you communicate, Venus, which is how you connect, usually like the love one, and Mars,
M: Mmhm.
L: which is like your action, are all in Leo and they’re all in the seventh house of committed partnerships.
M: Oh wow.
L: Oh, that’s so interesting.
M: Okay, so that’s probably why Sam’s partner was like, “Wow. You must be struggling right now.” (laughs)
L: Of course.
M: And I was. That was like, remember that time. That was like the worst time.
L: Yeah. Well, and then you also two other signs in the eleventh house, which is like, friends and community. So, that’s really interesting. Very cool.
M: Did you have, you some Capricorn in yours?
L: Yeah, Capricorn’s my moon. Sorry, you were asking if you had any Scorpio? Your Pluto is in Scorpio.
M: Yay! I wanted to have something in Scorpio.
L: It’s like how you transform. And then your Jupiter, how you create abundance, is in Aries.
M: Oh, okay.
L: While you do this, I’m gonna pull up my full chart, ’cause I just have the stuff from the book, just because I want to see what other things I have in other ones. But you were asking me something. Sorry.
M: It’s okay. No, I just wanted to know about Scorpio.
L: Mmhm.
M: Oh, but you have Capricorn in your chart.
L: That’s my moon. Yeah.
M: “Most people would describe Capricorn as serious and some would even say boring. Both of these stereotypes aren’t accounting for major parts of their personality. They’re extremely goofy and hilarious when you get to know them well enough. Far from boring and always finding little projects to pour their energy into.”
L: Nice. Okay.
M: And then, “Aquarius people are noted for being emotionally detached but the stereotype doesn’t account for their need to check in on their loved ones. Bouts of worrying sometimes trouble them when they think about their loved ones getting into danger or being harmed. Because of this they have a tendency to constantly text or call those they care about to make sure they’re alright.” And that’s my, what is mine? Aquarius rising?
L: Oh, Aquarius rising. Yeah.
M: I think that that’s very true for me. I always worry about everyone. I have to make everyone’s okay. But then I also relate that back to like, trauma, so who knows.
L: Sure. And then-
M: Have you ever had a chakra reading?
L: No. I’ve had one chart reading when I got my tattoo that was like, I have an intuitive tattoo,
M: Uh huh.
L: that was done based on my natal chart. So I’ve had a natal like, birth chart reading before. But I haven’t gone back and listened to it, ’cause I recorded.
M: You should have a reading with the person I just did. It was amazing.
L: I would love to.
M: She did the chakras, my aura color, and like, some activities ’cause I told that I like to do like witchy stuff, like my therapist that I used to see would say like, scheudle that in because it’s so important to me.
L: Mmhm.
M: And so she gave me things like burning activies that I could do that are like ritual like, to work on the specific chakras because she was telling me where my blockage was, which I felt like totally resonated with me.
L: Yeah. No, I like that.
M: So I think that is so cool like, stuff like that, I know people might think it’s silly, but it’s like why not. It’s so good for the soul to like, figure out these things and stop and like, connect with your body. I don’t know. It was totally spot on for me.
L: Totally. Oh, you know what else is a thing that I found mine that was like a little more on the ascendant ruler and all that part. So my ascendant ruler’s in Mercury, which is based on how I communicate,
M: Mmhm.
L: which means that Mercury retrograde is supposed to especially effect me because that’s my communication place.
M: Mmhm.
L: And also I, ’cause I always say like, I know some of this stuff is silly, but I feel like very aware of like, specifically Mercury retrograde and the moon.
M: Uh huh.
L: I was also born on a full moon, under a full moon, with a water sign.
M: Oh, you were.
L: I was.
M: That’s so cool.
L: I was. So I think that’s interesting. I don’t have- We were talking about Aries. I don’t have any Aries in my sign, in my chart at all. I mean, we don’t, we all have something in there somewhere, you know, but it’s not in one of my main ones.
M: Mmhm.
L: I also only have one Scorpio, which is-
M: Oh, I wanted to read Scorpio because that’s Sam.
L: Mmhm.
M: And my mom was a Scorpio. I love Scorpios. It says, “Scorpio folk have a reputation for being a highly vindictive, vicious, and jealous sign. (laughs) Something with emotion that will eventually cause them to take out their frustration on others. However, Scorpio is a sign that, as a rule, goes through many transformations in life. At a certain point, they realize revenge and grudges are a waste of time. They aquire incredible emotional stregth. The greatest virtue of Scorpio is their wisdom.”
L: Cool.
M: I love reading about this. I could read about this stuff all day.
L: Yeah. It’s fun. That’s super cool. Well yeah, I know we’ve been, we’ve been chatting for awhile. Should we touch on another little witchy bit? So the other thing we were gonna talk about was because we both were interested in tarot. And there’s an Instagram account called @3am.tarot that does a lot of like, nice like, options for spreads you can do. And a spread is just like, you know, a card, whether it’s like one or five or whatever. And this one is specific to kind of like, the world of quarantine. And so it’s a three card spread about getting through the day. The first one is something is something to look forward to, the second one is something to stop pressuring yourself about, and the third is a way you can treat yourself. So maybe we could each- Do you have you deck close by?
M: I do. My dick as I like to call it.
Both: (laugh)
M: I always say. I told Leigh before we recorded, I always say dick instead of deck
L: That’s funny.
M: because my partner and I, I make her do all the stuff with me now that we’re stuck together in quarantine.
L: Mmhm.
M: And so I’ll just be talking and I’ll be like, “Baby, can you get me my dick?” And she’s like, “Oh my god. Stop saying that.” And I’ll just say it over and over, any time, or like when we’re playing cards, I’ll like talk about the dick instead of the deck. I don’t know.
L: That’s hilarious.
M: You gotta find ways to keep yourself entertained.
L: I know, right?
M: (laughs)
L: But I also feel like, “Honey, can you hand me my dick?” has other meanings. (laughs)
M: Yeah.
L: I might be disappointed if someone said that and then said, “No. I mean my tarot cards.”
M: (laughs)
L: I’d be like, “Oh. That’s a different way the evening’s gonna go.”
M: Yeah. (laughs) Definitely.
L: Okay, so I’m like shuffling my deck. My dick.
M: First, the tarot dick and then the other dick.
L: There you go.
M: See, that’s a good night.
L: That is a good night.
M: (laughs)
L: I can’t stop thinking about like Overhead in L.A. or Overhead Wherever, that’s like, “Hey, how long has it been since you had sex?” And the other person’s like, “How long’s the quarantine been going?” And they’re like, “Okay, a year and a half”
Both: (laugh
M: Oh my god. I love that.
L: While that is not true, I like it.
M: I love that Overhead in LA.
L: It’s so funny.
M: Oh, and with my reading, she said that I’m very psychically connected.
L: That’s cool.
M: And yeah. And so we were talking about that and how I agree but how like trauma can affect that
L: Yeah.
M: so that you don’t listen to yourself and you don’t believe in what you feel and all that. It was like really cool. And last January I did a tarot reading for Sam and all of the stuff came true throughout the year. Isn’t that cool?
L: Yeah. That’s super cool.
M: So, not that that was me. It was the tarot dick, deck. I just thought it was really cool because I have a really hard time reading for other people ’cause I feel like I’m gonna pull the wrong card or my energy’s gonna effect it in some way.
L: Mmhm.
M: So that made me feel really good to like, to know that I pulled the rights for them.
L: Yeah. I will say like, I haven’t done much like, pulling cards for other people. And as you know, I had literally just finished reiki training right before this all started and the reiki that I learned is hands on
M: Oh yeah.
L: so I haven’t been able to practice on anyone. So that’s been kind of a weird like- I think that has come into play with why I feel so out of touch with these different practices that I was getting into
M: Mmhm.
L: and kind of why I wanted to talk about this today and get back into it.
M: Yeah.
L: I know we’ve mentioned too before that my friend Sam, different Sam, does akachic records readings and so we’ll put links to her stuff too
M: Yeah.
L: because that’s a whole ‘nother thing that like, I’m not great at talking about, but it’s really fascinating and like, affirming and I recommend it for pretty much anybody. Do we want to pull cards for ourselves or for each other?
M: Oh, I don’t know. What do you think?
L: I don’t know.
M: We can pull ’em for each other. Why not?
L: Yeah, let’s do that. That’s fun.
M: Okay.
L: Okay. So I’m gonna pull first for you on something to look forward to. What do you do when you pull for other people? Do you just like think or do you have them stop? Like how do you do it usually? Or do you just get your own set?
M: I usually think about them and their energy.
L: Okay. Okay, so I’m gonna do that. So something to look forward to. Okay, I’m gonna pull it and put it down and do you want to pull one for me and then we’ll flip and talk about ’em.
M: Yeah. Mmhm.
L: I hope everyone’s enjoying witching hour. They’re either gonna love this or they’re gonna hate it. That’s what I feel.
M: Yeah. (laughs)
L: This feels like a very polarizing episode.
M: (laughs)
L: But hey, it’s not like you have anything else to do, so.
M: I pulled one for you.
L: Okay, cool. Let’s flip. Ooh. Okay. Want me to tell you first?
M: Yeah.
L: Okay, so for something to look forward to I pulled the Five of Wands for you, which is interesting. Let me, I feel like I do know what that- I try to learn all mine but I just like can’t. It’s too many for me to keep track of.
M: I know. There is.
L: Oh. Okay, right. I like this one. I pull wands a lot. So wands are like, are fire, so they’re like willpower, creativity, action. And so the description in mine. I’m doing the Modern Witch Tarot deck. The description from mine is, “Their wands raised high, this girl gang is engaged in battle, ready to defend their position and fight one another. It could just be friendly competition or it could get ugly, but either way it will be exhausting. Competition is fierce and the obstacles are many.” Hmm.
Both: Hmmm.
M: You have to send me a picture of it. I always connect better when I see a picture.
L: Oh yeah, totally. I can do that right now. Oh, you know what’s really really fascinating, is they’re weating face masks, in these, in this.
M: They are?
L: They are.
M: (laughs)
L: Okay. I’m gonna send you a picture. But what did you, do you have any thoughts, like hearing that?
M: I don’t know. I don’t really know what to think about that.
L: I guess if it’s something to look forward to, is there something that feels like active and competitve? Or like, in a way that is positive and like inspiring competition that’s something that’s like you can’t do now but that’s something you could do in the futre.
M: Mmm, yeah. I think so like careerwise.
L: Mmhm.
M: So that’s really cool. And it’s funny ’cause my reading that I had, she was saying that I have a blockage right now and that I shouldn’t like, go full force into what I’m planning I’m doing next until I work that out,
L: Okay.
M: which totally resonated with me. And it has a lot to do with like anger.
L: Yeah.
M: and it’s like careerwise and I think having like a big friend breakup recently and like that was related to work stuff
L: Yeah.
M: and also like switched and done a whole rebrand and stuff. Anyways, so I think what I want to do next is like totally different and one of things I’ve been struggling with is like, why would people want to watch me or why would they want to listen to me? And that even goes back into the podcast sometimes, you know. I’ve told you, when I’m like, “Oh my god. Why do we do this? People can hear us.”
L: (laughs)
M: You know, but, so that feels kind of good to think about like, getting back into that creative zone. And it is competitve, doing YouTube stuff and having a blog. It feels like there’s so many fish in the sea out there, you know.
L: Oh yeah.
M: So, I don’t know. That’s kinda cool.
L: It is actually very similar to that idea. I sent you a picutre of it and I also sent you a picture of the actual spread. Cool. What did you pull for me?
M: I pulled the Five of Swords.
L: Mmm! Mmmmmm!
M: Wait, let me make sure. And it was reversed and it says- And I’m using the Crow Tarot, which is so beautiful. I love this deck so much. It says, “Reversed, the Five of Swords indicates that you are tired of fighting and you have accepted that some games are not worth the battle.”
L: Interesting.
M: I like that.
L: I like that too. Yeah, my book says something too about Five of Swords being like, you’re fed up with a situation.
M: Mmhm.
L: Yeah. I mean, that’s (laughs) very accurate. Cool. I don’t exactly what it means for me like what I’m looking forward to but maybe I’m looking forward to not being fed up and
M: Yeah. (laughs)
L: maybe that has more to do with like, acceptance than it does with action right now. Swords is air, right? Yeah. Thought and intellectual realm. So, cool. Alright, the next one is something to stop pressuring yourself about.
M: Ooh, this will be good.
L: So I will pull one for you. Let me know when you are ready.
M: I’m ready.
L: Do you put a lot of thought into the stock of the idea of reversed or not cards. I don’t but I know some people do.
M: I usually don’t.
L: Mmhm. Okay, well I can tell you- So this one is reversed, but again, it depends. The book I use doesn’t really have a difference for reversed or not.
M: Mmhm.
L: And so, but obviously, you can think about it that way. What was the question, was something to stop pressuring yourself about. Okay. So for you I pulled the Two of Cups. Cups are always good. “There’s a super amazing spectacular person in your life or there’s about to be. You love being in their copany so much, each time you’re together feels like a party and your heart is just bursting full of love for them. Get drunk on love. Enjoy them beside you and let them fill your cup.”
M: Oh. That’s so nice!
L: Yeah! I don’t know. I kind of just read that as like, stop pressuring yourself about relationships because you’re in a good place, is kind of what that says.
M: Mmhm.
L: Nice.
M: Okay. The one I pulled for you is King of Cups.
L: Okay.
M: It says, “The King of Cups is a zen master who has complete control over his emotions. This regal bird can handle the most tumultuous of situations with grace and compassion. When you receive a royal visit from the King of Cups it may be a signal to take some quiet time to reflect on the emotions around the situation. What emotional triggers seem to pop up regularly that hold back progress?”
L: Oo, that’s good.
M: Yeah.
L: I mean, I’m really just gonna here that as like stop pressuring myself to chill the fuck out.
M: (laughs)
L: Kinda where I am is where I am. Okay. Cool. And then the last one is a way you can treat yourself.
M: Ooo! Hopefully mine’s about makeup. (laughs)
L: Hopefully it is. Here I’ll send you a picture of the Two of Cups so you can see. And you should send me pictures too from your deck of the ones that you pulled.
M: Okay.
L: And we can post them. We can bore everyone on our Instagram with them.
M: Yeah! I did respond to Rocketship and say we’re recording this one today so…
L: Oh, cool.
M: So we actually do what we say and we did the episode.
Both: (laugh)
L: We do what we say. Sometimes.
M: We do. It just takes us some time.
L: Right. Okay.
M: I’m ready.
L: Alright. I pulled the Two of Swords for you, which is, “You’ve raised your defenses, steeled yourself against opposition, and blindfolded yourself. But refuses to budge, you’ve blinded yourself to the truth of a difficult situation. Maybe you shut off your emotions as a defense mechanism or you’re refusing to see things logically. Perhaps you are stuck in anaylsis paralysis. Either way, you’re not dealing with the problem honestly. Take off the blindfold and confront the issue.
M: Hmm. Oo, I like that. That goes really well with what I’m working on with the anger and chakra and balance.
L: Nice. Does it still feel like a way you could treat yourself but like letting, I guess is it like a letting go?
M: Yes! That’s actually the thing I have on my paper circled that says, “Let go.”
L: Amazing.
M: So you, we both, wait, did you just pull cups for the second one?
L: I did. I pulled, so yours were Five of Wands, Two of Cups, Two of Swords.
M: Okay. I just pulled for you, Knight of Swords.
L: Are we pulling all from the- What were the first two you pulled for me?
M: No. The first one was different. But I pulled swords, cups, and then swords.
L: Interesting.
M: But two of them were the same.
L: But also you pulled, the first sword you pulled for me was a five though, right?
M: Yes.
L: And yours was five of wands. So we’re either the same number or the same suit for all of ’em.
M: Yeah.
L: That’s interesting.
M: It’s like we’re connected.
L: It is.
M: (laughs) Okay. The Knight of Swords says, “Rushes into battle as the wind whips around him. He charges ahead, pushing past all those who get in his way. It is not malice or anger that propels him, but pure momentum. The Knight of Swords brings youthful, enthusiastic energy to a job, which brings with it inspiration to create a pathway to success. This card may indicate a project you are excited about. There is swirling energy around you. You cannot be stopped. The Knight of Swords denotes a high potential and offers you the strength to complete the project but it also brings a warning not to cut corners or make hasty decisions.”
L: Okay. I like that.
M: And the cards are so pretty. I’ll send you a picture.
L: Yeah, please do. Very cool. So yeah.
M: I think this was a fun one. Hopefully everyone enjoyed.
L: I think it was too. I know. I hope people are into it. And I hope they’re finding, everyone’s just finding things to do that, I don’t know, that sentence fell apart.
Both: (laugh)
L: I’m tired. (laughs) No, I mean, I hope people are finding things to get into more or explore or whatever that don’t feel like they have to be productivity based, you know, it doesn’t have to be like
M: Mmhm.
L: you have to solve some big problem or create some great piece of art or anything like that because all of those high pressure things because we’re in a ridiculous and scary time. But, you know, if it gives you the opportunity to just look into something more or learn more about something in a way that like, feeds your souls, then cool.
M: Yeah.
L: I also, one last thing that I thought that maybe we could even like bring into our Queer Cuts. And this is a reminder that if you want to join our Patreon, we have mini episodes as well that we call Queer Cuts. And one of the things we’ve been doing on them is to answer questions from that New Yotk Times article from a few years back that’s like 36 questions to fall in love. But I also just like recently bought the game We’re Not Really Strangers.
M: Uh huh.
L: And it is like, a get to know you like, deeper questions, kind of, card game. I had been following them on Instagram and just thought- And you know, it’s like a small business run by a woman and so I was like, “Okay. I want to buy these.” And I ended up playing the game on a virtual date the other day. And it’s really cool. So I don’t know. We could always do some of the questions sometime on a short one. But I also recommend it for folks either with like, a friend or a partner or a family member or on a date if you’re catching yourself not having much to talk about because we’re all sort of in this long slough. I thought it was a nice break and a nice sort of like, intimacy builder, so.
M: I love questions like that.
L: You would love this game so much. You should think about getting it.
M: Yeah. I’m gonna look it up. Every time we’re doing this, I make my list of the things we’re talking about so
L: Same.
M: I’ll go check it out.
L: Cool. Alright.
M: Well, I think that’s it for this one.
L: I think it is. We love you all. We hope you’re staying safe and let us know if there’s anything you want us to talk about or any questions you have for us, even if it takes between one to twelve months to get to it.
Both: (laugh)
M: We will get to it at some point.
L: We will. Alright, we love you.
M: Alright, we love you guys. Be safe.
L: Bye.
M: Bye.
L: Thanks for listening to Queers Next Door. We hope you enjoyed it. Be sure to follow, subscribe, and leave a review wherever you listen to your podcasts.
